Our Community Mission
Welcome to the St. Clare of Assisi Parish Community web site, an important parish resource and help center.

The mission of the Catholic community of St. Clare of Assisi is to respond to God's call with personal commitment and community action.

Our dream is to build a community based on forgiveness of one another, caring for each other, bearing one another's burdens, personal prayer and sacramental worship.

Dear Parishioners

We are a fortunate Catholic community for we know that we worship on Holy Ground. Our church is a sanctuary for prayer and a place to find peace with Our Lord. As your shepherd, I pray that we will grow and see the Lord present in many occasions when we gather as a Christian family. Let us encourage our children and youth to feel part of this faith journey.
Father John
Let us ask Mother Mary to protect our parish so that we will accost ourselves closer to Jesus. Let us become instruments of peace such as St. Clare of Assisi was to all those she met. Let us become a Christian community which recognizes the need to reach out to the needy and the poor in spirit. Let us be sincere in all that we will do together. May our patron Saint look over us and guide us.

May God bless you always.

Fr. John Borean

WELCOME FR DONATELLO IOCCO TO ST CLARE & TO OUR COMMUNITY!

Fr. Donatello Iocco
Born in Italy, Fr. Donatello immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of 3. Father first began discerning a call to the priesthood in his mid-twenties after experiencing the love of God through the example of a holy priest. He now looks forward to serve God and His people.
We wish you all the best in your spiritual journey with us!

CATHOLIC CEMETERIES
Archdiocese of Toronto wishes to invite all families within the Archdiocese to participate in the Annual Mass for the Faithful Departed on Wednesday August 11, 2010 at 7pm. Cemetery locations as follows: Queen of Heaven in Woodbridge…..Holy Cross in Thornhill.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adult's formation team would like to invite all those who are interested in becoming Catholic to contact Fr. Donatello. The RCIA is a formation process intended for all those who are not baptized or baptized into another Christian community. RCIA provides the opportunity for one to ask questions, receive catechetical instruction, participate in prayer and share faith experiences. With its focus on the Sunday Mass and commitment to our Monday evening gatherings, we build momentum towards celebrating the sacraments of initiation at Easter 2011.

RETURNING CATECHISTS
Please inform Lina via email if you will be retuning to teach First Communion as soon as possible as we begin preparations for 2011. SEEKING CATECHISTS for Catechism Classes at St. Clare 2010-2011 We are seeking enthusiastic individuals from all walks of life 18 years of age or older AND also for would-be teacher’s college applicants - those applying to the school board who are seeking reference letters and are practicing their faith and would be willing to assist in the faith development of youth in our community. If you are interested in participating in this catechetical ministry, please speak with Fr. Donatello or Fr. John following any of the Sunday liturgies or send email to Lina Defilippis at ld@sca-p.org.

PROPERTY TAXES & CATHOLIC SCHOOL BOARD SUPPORT
It is important for those who support publicly funded Catholic schools to ensure that their property tax bill indicates this preference. Your support of Catholic education helps deliver a powerful message to the government about the level of support for the system in our province. You don't have to have children in the system to register your support. Remember, if you move residences, the default preference is to support public schools.
Contact your local school board if you have questions about how to ensure your property tax bill endorses publicly funded Catholic education. Remember, your support also entitles you to vote for Catholic school board trustee, an important issue given that this year's municipal elections include the election of these important leaders in our community. Please click here for the MPAC form. Please ensure that you mail the form directly to MPAC and not the Parish.

CATHOLIC TRUSTEES
A call to service... If you are interested in knowing more about becoming a Catholic School Trustee, please visit: www.ocsta.on.ca or call the parish office for brochure.

VOLUNTEER’S NEEDED
The Rosary Apostolate is looking for volunteers who love Mother Mary and are willing to go into our Catholic Schools and pray the Rosary with the students. Training will be provided. Please contact Roseanne at (905) 859-5657.

In cooperation with the Archdiocese of Toronto Cultural Heritage Program, we present these panoromic views of our church. Enjoy the tour!
